Global holds an arts exhibition on combating violence
The exhibition was held in cooperation with several artists who portrayed the subject of combating violence against women in a way that expresses women's view on the matter. Samira Boukhamsin, Aseel Al-Khatib, Manal Al-Majid and Munira Al-Rumaihi each had an active participation by presenting many of their paintings.
The exhibition is the first of a series of exhibitions to be held by the company under its social initiative, "Global Art Gallery", to highlight the purposeful messages of artists and their talents by showcasing their artworks including paintings, photographs, sculptures, handcrafts amongst others.
Nawal Mulla-Hussain, Chief Operation Officer at Global said, "The company's role in the social field is inseparable from its economic role, as its contribution to the community is a cornerstone of its business and activities. Global enjoys a strong track record in its diverse social activities targeting different segments of society."
It is worth mentioning that the aim of the campaign launched by the United Nations for the "International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women" is to raise awareness about the importance of gender equality and appreciation of the role of women in society and to address discrimination and the resulting family positions and social standards contrary to religions and laws. Studies show that achieving gender equality helps to prevent conflicts and that in some countries measures related to the integration, leadership and protection of women remain insufficient.
