Sulaiman M. Al-Rubaie

Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Al-Rubaie has more than 17 years of experience in merchant banking and private equity. He has a wealth of experience across many areas including advisory, mergers & acquisitions, equity and debt capital markets and restructuring.


He started his career with boutique investment bank, Brask and Company (Acquired by Kaupthing Bank), in their placement and later in their M&A team with a focus on the high growth industries. He then moved back to Kuwait to join the investment banking team at Global Investment House where he led and co-led the formation, placement, and strategic monitoring of companies in various sectors. He later joined Eastgate Capital Group, the private equity and real estate investment arm of National Commercial Bank of Saudi Arabia, in Dubai and was a member of their transactions team. He joined Global again in 2010 as Vice President in the alternative asset management group and managed the overall restructuring of the Private Equity department and the numerous funds. He was promoted to become Executive Vice President in 2015, Deputy CEO in April 2017, Acting CEO in July 2018 and CEO in July 2019. Mr. Al-Rubaie is a member of the Frontiers Market and Middle East Councils of the EMPEA and is a board member of Boursa Kuwait in addition to numerous companies in the GCC and the Levant.


Mr. Al-Rubaie received his MBA from London Business School and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering from Cornell University, Ithaca, New York.

Ihsan Sancay

Head of Private Equity

With his 18 years private equity and corporate finance experience, Mr. Sancay co-heads the Private Equity practice at GCM. In this role, he led several investment and exit processes in MENA and Turkey and also represented GCM on the Board of Directors of investee companies.

He managed the investment process of various high profile buyout transactions, namely Bicakcilar, Yargici and SPX and the exit process of TAV Airports. Before setting up the Global office in Istanbul in 2008, he worked for IS Private Equity, the private equity arm of Turkey’s biggest private bank (in terms of assets). During his tenure with IS Private Equity, he witnessed and experienced the evolution of the private equity industry in Turkey and steered some landmark deals and exits in sectors such as healthcare, cinema and entertainment, retail, production and heavy industrials. Ihsan commenced his career with Coopers and Lybrand in 1997, and following the merger with Price Waterhouse, he continued as part of the PricewaterhouseCoopers Corporate Finance and M&A team. He is well experienced in mid-market private equity, leveraged buyouts, corporate structuring, M&A and project finance.

He has advised major financial and strategic companies in the US, Europe and CIS. He has also assisted portfolio companies with project financing, private placements and debt syndications, as well as public listings in the Alternative Investment Market (London) and Istanbul Stock Exchange (Turkey). Ihsan holds a MBA degree from Bilkent University in Turkey, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Minor Degree in Business Administration from Middle East Technical University. He also holds CPA from Turkey.


Sharad Jain


Mr. Jain has over 20 years of experience in investment analysis and valuation of listed and unlisted stocks in various countries across MENA, Turkey and India. He is heading Global's Private Equity team in the Dubai office. He has ten years of experience in leading private equity transactions and portfolio companies in MENA, India and Turkey. Sharad has led key transactions such as TAV (an airport construction and management company in Turkey), Dubai Financial Market, Parsvnath Developers (a real estate and infrastructure company in India), Tasheed Real Estate Company (a real estate company in Qatar), a logistics company focused on over dimensional consignments and a component manufacturer in India. Prior to joining Global, he was a Senior Equity Research Analyst with Batlivala & Karani Securities India Pvt. Ltd, where his role included research and analysis of infrastructure companies and conglomerates. Some of the companies covered were VSNL (owner of largest bandwidth capacity globally), Torrent Cables (the most efficient distribution cable manufacturer in India), KEC International (the largest transmission tower company in India with presence in 20 other countries).  He was rated as the “Star Analyst’ for Indian equities in the year 2004 by ‘The Week’ (a leading Indian business weekly). Sharad received his Masters in Business Administration  from the Middlesex University Business School (London, UK).

Chandresh Bhatt


Mr. Bhatt has over 22 years of experience, spanning over private equity and equity research. He joined Global's Private Equity team from the Research department 3 years ago to assist in analysis and portfolio company support. Currently he is heading ASA (Analytics, Support & Administration) team at Global Capital Management. As part of ASA, he is responsible for the department’s reporting in relation to portfolio companies and the funds. He also plays a key role in the department’s compliance and risk functions as well as in the budgeting exercise. With his equity research background, he is of great assistance in terms of deal sourcing, evaluation, due diligence and valuation. He is also actively engaged in managing portfolio companies in Kuwait and in India through board representation and also through management committees. He has wide industry relationships which have been utilized from time to time to source proprietary transactions in sectors such as healthcare, NBFC, infrastructure and education. During his career in Research, he spearheaded a team of analysts in sectors including telecom, utilities (power & water), banking, cement, FMCG and pharmaceuticals. He covered key companies such as Zain (Kuwait), Etisalat (UAE), Omantel (Oman) and Oordeoo (Qatar & Kuwait) in the telecom sector; Qatar Electricity & Water Company and Saudi Electricity Company in the utilities sector and Qatar National Bank, Doha Bank and Commercial Bank of Qatar in the banking sector. Chandresh holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from University of Mumbai, India and Post-Graduate Diploma in Financial Management (PGDFM) from L. N. Welingkar Institute of Management Development & Research, Mumbai, India.

Zakir Hussain Rizvi, CFA


Mr. Rizvi is a Partner in Global Capital Management, a fully owned subsidiary of Global Investment House and has over 14 years of experience in valuations, M&A and transaction advisory, having worked with leading international consulting firms, including the Big Four. Zakir is the Chairman of a leading F&B company in the GCC, he has been the Vice Chair of a listed finance company in Jordan, he sits on the board of a bank in Malaysia and on the board of a consumer finance company in Kuwait. He also sits on the investment committees of various private equity funds managed by Global. Zakir is leading the Global MENA Financial Assets (GMFA) fund management team and is responsible for fund administration and management in addition to representing the fund on the boards of various portfolio companies. Prior to joining the GCM team in June 2011, in his advisory roles at Protiviti (subsidiary of Robert Half International) and KPMG, he advised on transactions across a suite of sectors, ranging from banking, consumer finance, telecom, real estate, oil and gas, industrial products, food and beverages, health care, etc. He has advised on some of the landmark M&A transactions in the MENA region, totaling in excess of US$ 10 billion. He is well experienced in deploying and exiting private capital, developing private equity products, funds restructuring, portfolio companies turn around and fund admin & governance matters


Zakir is a CFA Charter holder from CFA Institute USA, an attendee of Harvard Business School’s Private Equity and Venture Capital Programme. He holds an MBA from Institut Européen d‘Administration des Affaires (INSEAD), France besides holding Masters in Economics from IAE Graduate School of Management, France and Masters in Economics from Government College Lahore, Pakistan.

Ahmed Abdullah

Senior Director

Mr. Abdullah is a Senior Director in Global Capital Management and is co-managing the Global Opportunistic Fund I. He has over 17 years of experience in the financial services sector. Having started his career at Egyptian Commercial Bank, he was responsible for branch network expansion and spearheaded the bank’s expansion in Sudan. Post acquisition by Piraeus Bank, he headed the investment banking department, acting as the main coordinator between the headquarters in Athens and Egypt. In his present role,  Ahmed represents Global Capital Management on the boards of several portfolio companies including Gulf Takaful, which is one of the largest Takaful companies in Kuwait, and Emirates Retakaful, a leading  Retakaful company in the region. He is also a board member of Elaj Group, one of the leading healthcare investment companies in the region, focusing on Saudi Arabia and Egypt. From 2008 till 2012, he was a board member of KGL Logistics, where he was part of the IPO/listing committee. Ahmed was also part of the team that set up Al Rayan Holding Company Kuwait, a leading education company in the region, for which he helped raise acquisition finance from local banks.


Mr. Abdullah  holds a Master’s Degree (Risk Management) in  Banking and Financial Science together with certificates in Portfolio Asset Management & Islamic Financial Analysis


Mohammed Masri

Senior Director

Mr. Masri is a Senior Director in Global Capital Management and has 13 years of professional experience in private equity, transaction advisory and audit. In his current role, he manages the Direct Investment Fund with US$ 100 million of invested capital. Prior to that, he led the Due Diligence Team within the Strategic Investment Group of Global Investment House, where his team advised different private equity funds, totaling around US$ 1.1 billion. In this capacity, his role entailed conducting due diligence on various potential investment opportunities. Over the years, he also led several transaction teams engaged in the evaluation of private equity transactions in the MENA region in diverse sectors including, financial services, banking, investment companies, construction, telecom, education, real estate, retail, etc. Mohammed is the Chairman of a listed finance company in Jordan.


Prior to joining Global, Mohammed managed the Financial Assurance team at KPMG. He led several external audit, assurance and Agreed Upon Procedures exercises and spearheaded numerous financial due diligence projects. Mohammed holds a Bachelors degree in Accounting from the Jordanian University.


Gokce Manav


Mr. Manav has around eleven years of private equity and corporate finance experience and is a director in Global Capital Management in the Turkey office. He was involved in the sourcing of Bicakcilar Group, Yargici and Olgarlar and navigated their investment processes. He is currently managing Global's Turkish assets of which he is a board and an executive committee member. He works closely with the CEOs and CFOs of portfolio companies with regards to operations such as evaluation of investment projects, establishing JVs, project finance and C level recruitments. Gokce is also an audit committee member of Bicakcilar and Yargici.


Prior to  joining the Global office in Istanbul in 2008, he worked for Unlu and Co, one of the most active investment banks in the mid-market M&A segment. Prior to that he was part of the corporate finance team in Global Securities and worked for Borusan Telekom. He has vast experience in mid-market private equity, privatizations and M&A advisory in Turkey. Gokce holds an MSc degree and BA in Financial Engineering and Management from Bogazici University in Turkey.


Dirar Al-Ameer

Vice President

Mr. Al Ameer has over 10 years of experience in financial services and has been a lead member of the Analytics, Support and Administration group (ASA) at Global Capital Management since 2007. His strategic thinking and private equity industry knowledge has been instrumental in providing ongoing advice to fund principals regarding front, middle and back office solutions. He oversaw structuring and placement of five private equity funds with a total AUM of US$ 1.8bn. He maintains an active relationship with the fund administrators and other service providers and coordinates internally with the Operations and Finance teams on such matters.


Prior to joining GCM, Mr. Al Ameer held a position at Minacs World Wide as a Financial Product and Customer Relations Consultant in the retail banking sector where his duties focused on middle office trade and client support. Mr. Al Ameer is a graduate of Mount Saint Vincent University where he holds B.B.A in Marketing and Management. He is actively involved in the supervision of Jordan Trade Facilities Services, wherein he is a member of the executive committee of the Board of Directors. In this role he is engaged in credit evaluation and approval.


Hani El-Afghani

Senior Associate

Mr. El-Afghani is a Senior Associate in Global Capital Management and is the most recent addition to the team. He has cumulative 8 years of private equity experience, from origination to execution to fundraising. Mr. El-Afghani was part of GCM’s private equity team in 2008 for three years and a board member of GCM’s Indian investments (Uma Precision and Reach Cargo), prior to embarking on his MBA. Post-graduation, Mr. El-Afghani joined Probitas Partners (London office), a private equity placement firm where he project managed two complete fundraises, an Italian SME  €150mn direct equity fund and a UK turnaround €350mn direct equity fund. His responsibilities included overseeing all fund marketing materials and developing a fundraising marketing strategy prior to the pre-marketing phase.


Mr. El-Afghani has a full spectrum of private equity experience from his first stint in GCM in adding value through managing portfolio companies to his latest role at Probitas Partners in raising private equity funds and direct interaction with LPs. He is currently part of the New Products Development Team of GCM. His main responsibilities include facilitating exits for portfolio companies and support in establishing new products/funds. Mr. El-Afghani received his Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering from Queen Mary University of London and his MBA from Hult Business School.
