Maha K. Al-Ghunaim
Mrs. Al-Ghunaim co-founded Global in 1998 and has been managing the company since then to become a prominent asset management and investment banking firm in the region.
She was involved in several milestone transactions including one of the largest M & A transactions in the telecommunications sector for USD10.7bn, the raising of USD10bn in equity capital, and USD3bn in conventional & Islamic debt, and the management of USD4bn on behalf of clients.
Mrs. Al-Ghunaim has over 31 years of experience in the financial sector and mainly in asset management and investment banking. She has served on the board of several regional companies and advisory boards and held several senior positions.
Her success drew media attention to herself and she has been recognized as a role model for Arab women and women in the Islamic world. She received several accolades from industry leaders including the "Banker Middle East Industry Award (BME) for her outstanding contribution to the financial industry. The Wall Street Journal had named her on its list of 50 “Women to Watch”. Forbes (US) ranked her for three consecutive years as one of the World's 100 most influential women.
Mrs. Al-Ghunaim holds a BS in Mathematics from San Francisco State University, California, USA. She submitted her resignation from her executive role on 17 January 2017.
Bader A. AL-Sumait
Mr. AL-Sumait is the Chief Executive Officer of Global Investment House since March 2009. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Chapman University in the USA and has over 34 years of experience in asset management, banking and finance, and is a prominent figure in the Kuwaiti capital market. Before co-founding Global in 1998, he was the Managing Director of the Arab Financial Consultants Company. Mr. AL-Sumait is the Chairman and Board Member of several local and regional institutions.
Mr. AL-Sumait submitted his resignation on 17 January 2017 and was nominated, subject to regulatory approvals, as a board member to fill the vacant board seat.
Khawla B. Al Roomi
Mrs. Al Roomi, a co-founder of Global, occupies the position of Executive Vice President – HR, Administration & Marketing. She has 30 years of experience in human resources and personnel administration having held several managerial positions with Kuwait Foreign Trading Contracting & Investment Co (KFTCIC) and Kuwait Investment Co. and besides her current position as Vice Chairman of Arab Leadership Academy. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce – Business Administration concentration from Kuwait University.
Mrs. Mulla-Hussain joined Global in 2004 and occupies the position of Executive Vice President – Legal Affairs & Compliance. A professional with over 26 years of experience, Mrs. Mulla-Hussain held Legal Counsel positions in the Kuwait Investment Authority and the Kuwait National Petroleum Company. She has a Bachelor’s degree in law from Kuwait University.
Mr. Bhatia is a finance professional with over 28 years of experience. He joined Global in 2006 and brought with him a wealth of experience in banking, finance, accounting, auditing, consulting and financial advisory. Prior to joining Global, he was Financial Controller at National Bank of Bahrain. He has also worked with notable multinational firms including KPMG, Siemens and PricewaterhouseCoopers in various capacities. He obtained his Chartered Accountancy and Cost & Management Accountancy qualifications in 1988 and Bachelor of Commerce (with Honors) from Delhi University in 1985.
Sulaiman M. Al-Rubaie
Mr. Al-Rubaie has more than 14 years of experience in merchant banking and private equity. He has a wealth of experience across many areas including advisory, mergers & acquisitions, equity and debt capital markets and restructuring.
He started his career with boutique investment bank, Brask and Company (Acquired by Kaupthing Bank), in their placement and later in their M&A team with a focus on the high growth industries. He then moved back to Kuwait to join the investment banking team at Global Investment House where he led and co-led the formation, placement, and strategic monitoring of companies in various sectors. He later joined Eastgate Capital Group, the private equity and real estate investment arm of National Commercial Bank of Saudi Arabia, in Dubai and was a member of their transactions team. He joined Global again in 2010 as Vice President in the alternative asset management group and managed the overall restructuring of the Private Equity department and the numerous funds. He has been promoted to become Executive Vice President in 2015. Mr. Al-Rubaie is a member of the Frontiers Market Council of the EMPEA and is a board member of numerous companies in the GCC and the Levant.
Mr. Al-Rubaie received his MBA from London Business School and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering from Cornell University, Ithaca, New York.
Bader G. Al-Ghanim
Mr. Al-Ghanim has over 15 years of experience in investment advisory, asset management, and derivatives. He has a wealth of experience in portfolio and fund management with focus on equities and fixed income in the MENA region.
He started his career with Kuwait Investment Authority as Assistant Financial Analyst. He then joined the Forward Trading department at Kuwait & Middle East Financial Investment Company to assist in managing the first forward trading operations in the region. He later joined Kuwait Financial Center where he contributed to structuring Forsa Fund, the first derivative fund in Kuwait and the GCC, and also established and managed the first GCC fund launched by the company. He joined Kuwait & Middle East Financial Investment Company again as AGM to head the GCC asset management business. Bader joined Global in 2010 to assist in managing the asset management business in the GCC.
Mr. Al-Ghanim holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Boston University.
Rasha A. Al-Qenaei
Mrs. Al-Qenaei has more than 16 years of experience in the Wealth Management arena covering various client segments throughout the region including sovereign wealth funds.
She started her career with Global Investment House in Corporate Finance. She later moved to help set up the Wealth Management Department at Global and headed a team focusing on high net worth individuals. Later on, she was promoted as Head of Corporate and Institutional clients unit in Kuwait. In December 2008, she was promoted to head the Wealth Management Department covering Kuwait, where she successfully managed the relationship with clients. In 2011, she was promoted to manage the newly merged Wealth Management Department covering Kuwait and International markets. During this time, she re-engineered the processes and modified the strategy of the Department to best suit the challenges faced by the capital markets. In parallel, she also headed and grew the Portfolio Management Unit, a third party funds platform at Global.
Mrs. Al Qenaei has historically served in many board positions and is currently on the board of the following:
- Vice Chairman - Shurooq Investment Services Company, Oman
- Board Member – Al Mazaya Holding Company, Kuwait
Mrs. Al-Qenaei received her Bachelors of Science in Biological sciences from Kuwait University with a specialization in Molecular Biology and Genetics.
